Rebuilding Together San Diego Kicks off Acquisition/Rehab Program
with a Donation of an REO Property by Chase
San Diego, October 28, 2009 – Rebuilding Together San Diego (RTSD) announced today that it has kicked off its acquisition and rehab program with a donation by JP Morgan Chase of an REO property.
“This incredible and most generous donation comes at a time that will not only assist the operations of RTSD, but will go a long way in sustaining affordable housing within our community,” said Pamela Thorsch, executive director of RTSD. “With the current economic challenges, we feel extremely fortunate to be the beneficiary of this home. “
In partnership with volunteers, donors and organizations, Rebuilding Together San Diego revitalizes homes and neighborhoods for low-income homeowners and communities in need, especially the elderly, disabled and families, helping them to live in warmth, safety and independence.
Yves M. Mombeleur, vice president and REO community revitalization program manager for Chase, explains “San Diego is a market that has been hit hard by the downturn in real estate. We support this community through services such as the Chase Homeownership Center, helping borrowers who face foreclosure meet with a loan modification counselor. Other types of support include charitable grants and donations to community groups like Rebuilding Together San Diego."
RTSD will be renovating the property over the next several weeks with the help of volunteers who are anxious to lend a hand before offering it for sale.
Thorsch continued, “The Chase Team has placed their trust in our organization knowing that we will do our very best to leverage and utilize their investment to ensure that affordable, workforce housing is preserved.”
